Protect your family (and the planet!) with low VOC wood flooring

Choosing low VOC wood flooring for the health of your home and family has never been more important. We happily display several wide plank collections that exceed sustainability standards for a healthy, thriving planet.  Many of our environmentally conscious manufacturers are registered with the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI). These qualifiers represent a company’s commitment to safe forestry and manufacturing standards.  According to, these compliances mean responsible forest management, including:

  • Protecting fragile ecosystems
  • Respecting native cultures and economies
  • Preventing illegal logging
  • Restricting clear-cutting (removing all trees in a tract) and pesticide use
  • Monitoring the “chain of custody,” or ensuring that the wood in the product you’re looking at really came from the forest that was certified.

We are always prepared to provide documentation on our FSC and SFI low VOC wood flooring. Some of our favorite brands are D&M, USFloors, and of course the greenest choice of all, antique and reclaimed woods. These floors in a variety of colors, styles and finishes. Building a green home? You can earn LEED credits for using them as well.

**Remember– reclaimed flooring doesn’t always imply rustic!
